John Whyte - Dingo Creek Jazz and Blues FestivalJohn Whyte has been playing piano professionally since he was 16. Learning most of his street craft in Sydney as a young player during the musically rich 70’s he became a sort after player across a diversity of styles working with the likes of Doug Parkinson, Barry Leif, Kerry Biddel and Johnni Nicol who were big on the funk/jazz scene at the time.

 He toured with Rita Coolidge and Booker T before spending several years travelling and working overseas, ending up in London where he absorbed the diverse musical culture on offer.

He returned to study at the Qld Conservatorium under New York Jazz Pianist Mike Nock. After graduation he continued his study at the Victorian College of the Arts.

He returned to open Jupiter’s Casino and has remained in Qld since. He has played on many albums for other artists and is a regular performer at music festivals both locally and interstate.

 He now plays writes and arranges for a variety of genres including music education programs, computer games and short films. He regularly performs with a variety of interesting combinations of other musicians including Brazilian/Cuban Latin, Jazz , and Soul/Funk.
